Banner Advertising Network: Buy Banner Traffic

A banner is a fixed-size image inside someone else's page layout, billed per thousand impressions. Youtarget is a banner advertising network with its own supply and RTB access to external inventory. You buy the standard IAB sizes, set the bid country by country, and target down to device, operating system and connection type.

Why buy traffic on Youtarget

A self-serve DSP with its own traffic and RTB access to external supply.

  • Targeting that goes deep

Country, city, device, OS, browser, connection type, carrier, set separately per campaign and changed while it runs.

  • Retargeting on your own events

Audiences are built from the events you report: a visit, a registration, a paid order. A campaign targets them or excludes them.

  • Optimisation on your data

Send conversions back with a postback and the system bids towards them instead of towards clicks.

  • Automated rules on triggers

Set a trigger once and the campaign acts on it: a weak zone gets switched off, the bid for a country or an hour gets moved.

  • Statistics down to the source

Traffic-source level reporting in real time, so a placement that spends without converting is visible the same day.

  • CPM, CPC and CPA

Pick the model that matches the offer, and switch it without rebuilding the campaign.

  • Blocklists and allowlists

Exclude a source or keep only the ones that work, at campaign level, as the picture clears.

  • Antifraud on the platform side

Bots and invalid clicks are filtered out before they are billed, so the numbers you optimise on come from people.

What you are actually buying

A banner impression is a placement inside someone else's layout, competing with the content the visitor came for. Its value depends less on the creative than on whether the visitor has any prior relationship with your brand.

That is why the same banner performs completely differently in acquisition and in retargeting: the pixels are identical, the audience is not.

Sizes and where they sit

Standard sizes exist because publishers build their layouts around them. 300x250 sits in content and next to it, 728x90 above content, 160x600 alongside it. Prepare at least these three so your campaign is eligible for most of the inventory rather than a slice of it.

Static or animated

Animation raises attention and file size at the same time. On slow mobile connections a heavy HTML5 creative can lose the impression it was supposed to win, so keep a static version in the same campaign and compare them rather than assuming animation wins.

What banner traffic costs

Banner is billed per thousand impressions, and on this platform it is the cheapest inventory per impression in most countries. The table on this page shows the current recommended bids from live data.

A low CPM is not the same as a low cost per conversion. Click-through rates here are a fraction of native or push. The arithmetic only works when the audience already knows you, which is why retargeting is where banner earns its budget.

What it costs to start

The account opens on a $50 deposit with no contract behind it, and on banner that sum stretches further than on any other format here, because impressions are what you are paying for. Where Tier 3 CPMs sit in the low cents, fifty dollars is enough for a capped campaign to reach an audience worth reading. At Tier 1 rates it buys a fraction of that volume, which is the usual reason a first test starts where inventory is cheap.

What the deposit will not buy is a verdict on the creative. Click-through here is low enough that a few thousand impressions carry almost no signal. Size the first test by the number of conversions you need before the numbers mean anything, and let the budget follow from that.

Retargeting: the strongest use of the format

A visitor who reached your product or pricing page and left is the most valuable audience you can address with a banner. They already understand the offer, so the creative only has to remind rather than explain.

Segment by depth. Someone who abandoned a cart has a different objection from someone who read a category page, and one creative cannot address both. Cap frequency harder here than in acquisition: reminding the same person ten times a day converts a warm audience into an annoyed one.

Rotating creatives

Retargeting audiences are small and see your banner repeatedly, so creative fatigue arrives in days rather than weeks. Rotate on a schedule instead of waiting for the numbers to fall.

How to launch a banner campaign

Create a campaign, pick banner, and upload the three sizes that cover most inventory before anything else. Narrow the first run to a single country and a single device type. The recommended CPM in the table above is the starting bid, and there is little reason to guess above it.

Set a frequency cap before you launch. Banner suffers more from its absence than any other format here. The same person can see the same creative dozens of times in a day, and after the first few, extra impressions change nothing.

Creative rules that hold up

One message per banner, readable at a glance, with the brand visible and one obvious action. Text that requires the visitor to stop and read is wasted in a format nobody stops for.

What to avoid

Fake interface elements (false close buttons, fake system dialogues, imitation play buttons), produce accidental clicks that you pay for and that convert at close to zero. They also fail moderation.

Reading the results honestly

Judge banner by what a conversion costs in each country and on each source, never by click-through rate. CTR here is low enough that small differences are noise, and chasing it rewards creatives that collect accidental clicks.

Split acquisition and retargeting into separate campaigns. Blending them produces one average number that hides a working half and a failing half.

Banner ads: frequently asked questions

Banner ads are fixed-size image placements inside a publisher's layout, billed per thousand impressions. On Youtarget they are available in all standard IAB sizes with per-country bidding and targeting by device, OS and connection type.

At least 300x250, 728x90 and 160x600. Publishers build their layouts around standard sizes, so a campaign with only one size is eligible for a fraction of the available inventory.

Banner is priced per thousand impressions and is the cheapest inventory per impression in most countries on this platform. The table on this page shows current recommended CPM values by GEO from live data.

Start with what the network can actually fill. Ask which IAB sizes carry real volume in the countries you want: a network that lists twenty sizes but holds inventory for three will quietly under-deliver. Then check how deep the reporting goes. Banner is billed by impression, and the only lever you have is switching off placements that produce nothing, which is impossible on aggregated numbers.

Test them against a static version in the same campaign. Animation raises attention and file weight together, and on slow mobile connections a heavy creative can lose the impression it was meant to win.

Banner rarely works as a direct-response format for a cold audience. It earns its budget in retargeting and brand presence, where the visitor already knows the offer and the creative only has to remind.

Stricter than in any other format, and stricter still in retargeting. After the first few impressions additional ones change nothing, so an uncapped campaign spends most of its budget on people who have already decided.
